We’re happy to announce that Sonos version 7.1 is now available. This version is adding some great quality of life improvements to Sonos. First off, Sonos Android controllers now have support for Google's accessibility feature TalkBack. TalkBack is similar to VoiceOver as a tool intended to aid people with vision difficulties in navigating apps on their phones and tablets. Next up, it’s even easier to find and add music services to your Sonos system. The Add Music Services menu is also easier to navigate to find your services.
The iOS and Android Sonos apps will now detect many music service apps you have installed on that device and will offer them up first when you go to add services. There have been some bug fixes and minor changes as well: a new Sonos icon, a new look to the view for 'About This Album' and 'About This Artist” pages, and the Control Sonos from Spotify option is now inside the Spotify menu.and the UX of the 'play' controls is still unintuitive, inconsistent and broken. Sometimes you append to the queue. Sometimes you overwrite the queue. Sometimes you insert into a stopped queue (the 'play album followed by tracks 2-end of yesterday's session' feature as default play behaviour). At least most actual real-world use-cases are available with a workaround or menu option.
Fair enough, no one expected a return to the v6.3 era of working, well-designed software, but at least I guess there's shiny new features to distract from the core functions (playing music). Tomhollick92 wrote: After the update I cannot use one of my Play 1's. It still does the alarm but I cannot see it in the controller and am unable to manually add it again. Do a system re-boot:- Switch off router, Sonos and EVERYTHING on network (Phones, tablets, doorbells, Alexa - NO cheating). Then switch on router and wait a few mins.

What 6.3 well designed software. That was full of its own flaws. The new version got rid of most of the flaws and created new ones in itself. Total flaws overall reduced. Of course, paying attention to the screens you were first shown would help.

My Sonos just skipped a song That sort of issue is almost always network or interference related, so the update isn't going to fix it.
We'd be happy to take a look at your systems as well. I'd recommend creating a new thread on the community with a diagnostic and letting us know what sources you're having trouble with and any details you can about the situation.
We'll take a look. BoredofBalham wrote: what 6.3 well designed software. That was full of its own flaws.

I'm not doubting that many things have been improved. But the 6.4/7.0/7.1 design is deeply flawed. The interaction between playing music and affecting the queue is inconsistent.
'Play' buttons don't behave the same from screen to screen, and they also don't take into account whether you're currently playing music. There's a debate to be had over whether the queue should be persistent (6.3) or ephemeral (6.4) by default, but it shouldn't be both. And good luck to anyone trying to defend inserting into a stopped queue (for default 'play' action) as a desired use-case, rather than a stupid annoying bug.
It's the little things. CoralRock wrote: Something went horribly wrong with this update. After the update failed several times, it seemed to have succeeded, but we have SEVERAL play:1s that won't work at all or start to play a song briefly (while the rest continue). They can't be grouped effectively. This is HORRIFIC. You have network issues. The release was fully beta tested, and works perfectly.
I have evidence to the contrary, but you're welcome to your opinion. I was offered an upgrade, it failed several times, then said it succeeded, and ultimately things are not working correctly. That is HARDLY the definition of 'works perfectly.' Some units don't work at all, some can't be grouped. I have restarted the entire wireless and hardwired network and have the same results.

I did restart the entire wireless + wired network and still have problems. I'm obviously willing—and apparently required—to unplug every last device and restart everything in the order you specify— BUT LET'S BE HONEST: this is hardly the definition of user friendly and 'working as expected.'
I don't even know if it will fix the problem, but it's a pain to have to go through this. Will I do it?

Yes, but I paid a lot of money, as did everyone else, for a system that is supposed to work. This is NOT working as it should; that's all I'm saying. Sonos will not work except on a foundation of a stable Wifi environment, and updates flush out network weaknesses that may not affect other Wifi use. This is so with any wireless home audio kit. I suggest you do the recommended, and if it works, take the next step that will not have you do this again in future - reserve IP addresses in the router for all kit that uses the network, or at least all Sonos kit including handheld controllers that do so.
IP address conflict is almost certainly your problem; and is definitely the problem if the suggested steps solve the existing issues. CoralRock wrote: Something went horribly wrong with this update. Unfortunately I have the same problem - I didn't recommend the update at the moment. I have a problem free running wireless environment in my flat - that's for sure. I have rebooted all devices (lan-switch, modem, all sonos-speaker (playbar with 2 play1 for 5.0 surround, 1xplay3, 2 play1), sonos bridge, etc.) but the play 1 lose the music receive and stop playing. They also can't be grouped effectively.
I'm disappointed that such an expensive product doesn't run problem free after an update!
